Summary

Konfir collects only the information you choose to share to verify your employment or income. The data comes directly from the sources you connect - such as your bank, HMRC, payroll system, or uploaded documents - and is shared only with the organisation that requested your verification (your verifier).

What Konfir shares

The exact data depends on the verification type and the sources you connect. It may include:

  • Personal identifiers: Name, date of birth, and National Insurance number (to match official records)

  • Employment details: Employer names, employment dates, and job title (where available)

  • Income information: Salary amounts and frequency for income verification

  • Self-employment records: Dates and income from uploaded SA302 documents

  • Employment gaps: Periods with no employment records found

What Konfir does not share

  • Your spending, bills, or day-to-day transaction details - Open Banking data is analysed for income patterns only; spending is never shared

  • HMRC data unrelated to employment or income

  • Your bank login credentials, Government Gateway password, or other account credentials

  • Any data from sources you don't connect

Where your data comes from

HMRC

  • One-time, read-only access to employment and income records

  • Your login credentials are never shared or stored by Konfir

  • Access is automatically revoked after your data is retrieved

Open Banking (bank account)

  • Transaction history is used to identify salary payments and consistency

  • Only income-related data is included in your verification; spending and outgoings are never passed to your verifier

  • Your bank login is handled directly by your bank

  • Regulated by the FCA

Payroll

  • Employment records are retrieved securely from your employer's payroll provider

  • No login or additional action is required from you

Documents (SA302)

  • Self-employment income and history are extracted from uploaded HMRC tax documents

  • Fraud checks are performed on all uploaded documents

Who can see your data

Only your verifier - the organisation that requested the verification - can view your data and result. Other parties, including your employer, bank, or any third parties, do not have access and are not notified.

Optional data storage

At the end of your verification, you may be asked whether you'd like Konfir to store your verified data to make future verifications faster.

This is optional. If you consent, Konfir acts as a joint data controller with your verifier for that stored data. You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing [email protected]
