Summary
An employer, lender, landlord, or letting agent needs to confirm your employment or income, and they've asked you to do this through Konfir. Depending on their requirements, they may be checking:
Where you've worked and when
Whether you're currently employed
What you've earned, and how consistently
These types of checks are standard for things like job applications, mortgages, rental agreements, and other financial decisions.
Why does my verifier use Konfir?
Your verifier uses Konfir as it provides a regulated, secure way for you to share your employment and income information quickly, from multiple trusted sources (e.g. HMRC, Open Banking, Payroll Providers) that they would otherwise be unable to access. Konfir is certified under the UK Government's Digital Identity & Attributes Trust Framework (DIATF) and provides the technology to enable your verification process.
Without Konfir, verifying your employment and income would typically involve more extensive and less secure checks - e.g. documents checks (e.g. payslips, P45s).
With Konfir, your data is verified directly at the source, securely, with results returned in minutes rather than days.
I've already provided documents or given referees - do I need to do this?
Even if you've already completed other verification processes for your verifier, they may opt to use Konfir to confirm the same information digitally. This allows them to verify the data directly from the source and guard against fraud risks.
For more information on your verifier's decision to use Konfir, we recommend speaking to them directly.
