Summary

Use HMRC’s “Get help with signing in” to recover your user ID, password, or both, then return to your Konfir link and try again. If you’ve never logged in before, create a Government Gateway account first.

Steps to recover your details

  1. Start recovery process: Go to HMRC’s Get help with signing in page and choose whether you need your user ID, password, or both.

  2. Follow the instructions: You may be asked for details like your name and National Insurance number.

  3. Check your email: You will receive an email reminder for your user ID, and a password reset link for your password

  4. Return to Konfir: When you’ve recovered your details, reopen your Konfir link and connect HMRC.

If you’ve never used Government Gateway

Create an account (Individual), then come back to your Konfir link to connect.

If it still isn’t working

You can continue for now by skipping HMRC and connecting other sources (Banking/Payroll), then submit; your verifier will follow up if follow up checks are required.
