Summary

Konfir’s secure bank connection uses the Open Banking framework to confirm that you’ve received salary or income into a UK bank account in your name.

It’s fast, FCA-regulated, and completely read-only - you log in directly with your bank, and Konfir never sees or stores your credentials.

How it works

  1. Consent to share – When prompted in the Konfir journey, you’ll be asked to confirm you want to connect your bank.

  2. Choose your bank – Select from a list of supported UK banks and building societies.

  3. Log in securely – You’ll be redirected to your bank’s own app or website to sign in and approve access.

  4. Approve sharing – Your bank will show exactly what’s being shared before you confirm.

  5. Return to Konfir – You’ll come back automatically once the connection is complete.

The connection lasts just a few seconds. Once data is retrieved, access closes immediately - Konfir never has continuous access to your account.

What’s shared (and what’s not)

Shared

Not shared

Inbound transactions (salary or income payments)

Outbound transactions (spending or transfers)

Bank name

Card numbers

Account type and holder name

PINs or passwords

Account number & sort code

This limited data lets Konfir confirm your employment or income objectively, without unnecessary disclosures.

Why Konfir uses bank data

Open Banking provides a faster, fraud-resistant, and privacy-protected way to confirm employment and income.

It replaces manual uploads or employer references and is regulated by the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

Security and privacy

  • Connections are one-time only and close automatically once your verification is complete.

  • All data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

  • Konfir never sees or stores your login details — you authenticate directly with your bank.

  • Access is read-only; we can’t move money or view unrelated information.

If you’d prefer not to connect your bank, you can still verify using other sources - see Can I skip the bank connection?
