Summary
You don't need to connect all available data sources to submit your verification. Konfir is just one way to verify your employment or income, and it may not cover everything. Once you submit:
Your verifier will review the result
They'll decide how to handle any gaps or unverified periods
They may contact you directly or request additional checks if needed
If you're unsure how your result will be used, you can always contact your verifier for clarity.
Why some periods may not be verifiable
There are two common reasons why parts of your employment or income history can't be verified digitally.
1. Your activity isn't covered by digital sources
Some types of work don't leave a digital record that Konfir can access, for example:
Cash-in-hand or informal work
Voluntary or unpaid roles
Overseas employment (Konfir only supports UK-based sources)
Employment older than the coverage limits of each data source
2. You can't connect a data source
In some cases, the data exists - but you're unable to connect it. For example:
You don't have your Government Gateway login details
You don't have a UK bank account for that period
Your employer's payroll system isn't supported
If a period can't be verified using the sources you connect, it will appear as "Not Verified" in your result. This is not a failure - it simply reflects the limits of digital verification.
What happens next?
Your verifier will see both:
What has been verified
What has not been verified
They'll decide how to proceed. This may include:
Accepting the result as it is
Requesting additional evidence (such as payslips, bank statements, contracts, or references)
If needed, they'll contact you directly with next steps.
ℹ️ Note: If your verification includes an income affordability check and none of the connected sources meet the required threshold, you'll be redirected back to the organisation managing your application. They'll decide the next steps, which may include alternative ways to confirm your income.
