Summary
If you’re having trouble completing your verification, don’t worry - it’s usually because one of your data sources (HMRC, your bank, or payroll) isn’t connecting properly.
If you can’t connect ONE data source - Try the linked troubleshooting guides or simply skip the problematic connection. Konfir uses multiple data sources, so as long as you can connect one, you can still complete your verification.
If you can’t connect ANY data sources - Contact your verifier. They’ll help you continue using another method, such as sharing payslips, documents, or references.
😌 Remember - Konfir is only one way an organisation can verify your employment or income.
Why can't I connect?
Connection issues are common and not a sign that anything’s wrong with your application. Most are caused by account access or technical limits, such as:
HMRC: Logging in with the wrong account or missing ID documents.
Banking: Not having online banking set up or using a non-UK account.
Payroll: Your provider doesn’t yet support digital data sharing.
What can I do?
You have a few options, depending on what’s happening.
1. Try to fix the issue
Start by visiting our troubleshooting guides:

Get help with Open Banking
Get help with Payroll
If the issue is with your account provider (e.g. your bank or HMRC), contact them directly to regain access or resolve login problems.
If it looks like a Konfir issue (a screen not loading or an in-app error), contact Konfir Support for help.
2. Skip the problematic source
If one connection isn’t working, you can skip it and continue using any other available sources.
Once at least one source is connected, you can submit your verification.
Your verifier will review what’s been verified and follow up if they need anything else.
💡 Tip: Connecting multiple sources gives Konfir the best chance of completing your verification quickly and accurately.
3. Contact your verifier
If none of your sources connect, or you’d prefer not to use Konfir, contact your verifier (the organisation that requested your check).
They’ll guide you through an alternative process - usually uploading documents or sharing references directly.
Your Konfir link will expire automatically, and your verifier will continue your verification outside Konfir.
